Serena Williams withdrew from Singapore for the second straight year just a few days before the start of the WTA Finals, leaving the eighth and final spot wide open.

Johanna Konta, Carla Suarez Navarro and Svetlana Kuznetsova are battling it out for that coveted berth. Before Williams withdrew, Dominika Cibulkova had claimed that final spot by winning the title in Linz.

Konta is currently in the lead for the last spot, but Suarez Navarro or Kuznetsova will knock her out if one of them wins the Kremlin Cup in Moscow.  On top of that, Konta—who has an abdominal injury—has not confirmed whether she will even be fit to play Singapore.

Angelique Kerber, Agnieszka Radwanska, Simona Halep, Karolina Pliskova, Garbine Muguruza, Madison Keys and Dominika Cibulkova are the seven players who have qualified for the WTA Finals.
