Belinda Bencic is not intimidated by second-seeded Serena Williams, her first-round opponent at the Australian Open.

On the contrary, she’s excited to play the 22-time Grand Slam champion in Melbourne.

Many told the Swiss that she had a "bad draw," but Bencic says she had a very different reaction to seeing that she would open the tournament against Williams.

"My first reaction was actually, like, really happy,” Bencic told reporters at the Australian Open. “So I think I'm super pumped. I think we're going to play on the big court. It's a big match, playing against Serena Williams. It's what everyone's working for."

Though she has been as high as No. 7 in the world, the 19-year-old Bencic has dropped in the rankings and is unseeded as she returns from back problems. She does have a win against Williams; she defeated her on her way to winning the title in Toronto in 2015.

"I hope I can take this memory and put it to positive energy to be, like, super confident on the court," said Bencic. "We played each other two times already. We both know what to expect now. I think it will be, for sure, a good match.”

Bencic currently holds the No. 59 ranking.
