Gilles Muller didn't hide what his first title meant to him, showing his emotions in a victory speech at the ATP event at Sydney.

The 33-year-old had previously reached five finals, but never won a title before capturing the championship in front of his wife and kids.

Speaking to journalists following his victory, he described the experience.

"Everything that happened tonight was like in a movie,” he said. “Rod Laver there, standing on center court with the trophy, my kids in the stands. Can't ask for more. It was my biggest goal to win a title."

Muller was the highest-ranked player on the ATP tour not to have won a title. He will reach a career-high No. 28 in the rankings.
