Rafael Nadal says he will adjust to his uncle Toni's plans to stop traveling on the tour, and has not made any decisions about whether he will bring on any other coaches.

Toni Nadal, who has coached Rafael since childhood, recently said that he wants to largely stop attending tournaments, and instead coach at Nadal's academy in Mallorca.

"I am comfortable with what he decides is best for him," Nadal told reporters at a sponsor event before the tournament in Acapulco. "Before he is my coach he is my uncle."

Their family partnership has been incredibly successful. With Toni by his side, Rafael won nine French Opens and five other majors going back to his teenage days.

"It has been many years,” Rafael said. “He has the right to have other priorities."

Nadal added former No. 1 Carlos Moya as a coach during the offseason, and also has assistant coach Francis Roig, who goes with him to tournaments that Toni Nadal does not attend. Both Moya and Roig are with Nadal in Acapulco this week.

"When Toni leaves, [I] have to talk to Francis and Carlos," said Nadal. "Primarily, I suppose my team could stay the same if there are no issues. I don't know if I will need someone to help me some weeks [at events]."

Nadal is No. 6 in the rankings.
