Venus Williams continued her strong 2017 season on Sunday with a convincing 6-3, 6-0 victory over qualifier Patricia Maria Tig in the third round of the Miami Open.

Williams, at 36 the oldest player in the women’s draw, improved to 12-4 on the year with her strong showing in Key Biscayne. The world No. 12, seeded 11th in Miami, is no stranger to these courts. She’s playing this tournament a remarkable 18th time, and is a three-time champion. Her last Miami Open title, however, came all the way back in 2001.

The time might be ripe for a fourth championship in South Florida. Considering the way she’s playing, and the fact that many of the tour’s stars are on the shelf—Serena Williams, Victoria Azarenka, Petra Kvitova and Maria Sharapova are all sidelined for a myriad of reasons—Venus seems primed for another title run in what has been a season of surprises from her. (Who expected her to reach the Australian Open final?)

She’ll have her work cut out for her in the fourth round, though. Fellow veteran Svetlana Kuznetsova, coming off an Indian Wells final appearance and a commanding win over Taylor Townsend, is up next for the seven-time Grand Slam champion.
