Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has become a father, French coach Loic Courteau told L'Equipe.

Tsonga withdrew from Miami as his girlfriend, Noura El Shwekh, was expecting their first child. The baby appears to have arrived before the due date.

Speaking to L'Equipe, Courteau did not know whether Tsonga would stay home or play the Davis Cup quarterfinals in two weeks.

“Jo could want to stay with her because it is their first child, something I completely understand,” he told the French newspaper. “But Jo also told us that he wants to play.”

Marcus Willis, who grabbed worldwide attention with his run from pre-qualifying to the second round of Wimbledon, wrote on social media that he and his wife, Jennifer Bate, also had their first child this week. Willis said his wife and their daughter, Martha May, were "doing great" and he "couldn’t be a prouder father and husband."
