Each day of the tournament, we'll preview and predict three must-see matches at the French Open.

Round 2 of Kvitova’s comeback will take place in the Bullring. There, she’ll face a thoroughly tested Mattek-Sands, who won three qualifying matches last week and came back from a steep first-set deficit in her opening main-draw match. But Kvitova is 2-0 against the American and seems happy just to be on court again. That can make a player dangerous.

Winner: Kvitova

Kontaveit put her name on the WTA map last month when she upset Muguruza in three sets in Stuttgart, and then went on to beat Angelique Kerber and reach the quarterfinals in Rome. Now these two will meet again in Chatrier. Has Muguruza, who made the semis in Rome, turned the same corner she turned in Paris last year?

Winner: Muguruza

Johnson, whose father passed away suddenly this month, rode an emotional roller coaster to a five-set win in his first match. It would be a lot to ask him to do the same against the 20-year-old Coric, who has found a groove on clay this spring. These two have never faced each other.

Winner: Coric
