Tennis fans are always dying for a chance to see a transcendent player like Roger Federer, so it wasn't surprising that he was playing in the night session on Day 2 of the Australian Open.

The world No. 2 responded to the bright lights by putting on a clinic against 28-year-old Slovenian Aljaz Bedene.

Federer handled his opponent with ease, winning 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 in just under two hours. It was a lopsided affair, and a lot of that had to do with Roger's serving. He won 16 of his 20 first-serve points and didn't give Bedene a single break point of his own.

Trickier for Federer may have been what happened after the match—an interview with Ron Burgundy, of Anchorman fame, aka Will Ferrell. As usual, the Swiss was quick when he had to be:

Back to business: as long as Federer's back isn't giving him problems, he should be considered the favorite to win the title in Melbourne. He is a five-time Australian Open champion, but that alone doesn't make him a sure thing. Even with injuries to players like Andy Murray and Kei Nishikori, the field for this event is stronger than any that Federer faced in the second half of last season. A healthy Rafael Nadal also happens to be lurking.

Federer's next opponent Down Under is set to be Jan-Lennard Struff, who beat wild card Soonwoo Kwon, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4, in his opening-round match.

The world No. 53 has never made it to the third round of a Grand Slam, and it's unlikely that he'll be able to change that here. Struff has only played Federer once in his career, with that meeting coming at the 2016 Halle Open. Roger won that match, 6-4, 7-6 (3).
