At the Australian Open, Serena Williams had a 5-1 lead against Karolina Pliskova in the third set of their quarterfinal match. However, the Czech was able to fight her way back into the match. The 26-year-old took advantage of Serena's nerves and ended up winning six straight games to win that match, 6-4, 4-6, 7-5.

In Pliskova's meeting with Su-Wei Hsieh on Thursday, the exact opposite ended up happening. With a spot in the Dubai semifinals on the line, it was Pliskova that blew a 5-1 lead in the third set. Hsieh emerged with a 6-4, 1-6, 7-5 victory, and she did it by putting balls in play and forcing Pliskova to make mistakes.

After the match, Pliskova joked that she hated playing against Hsieh. That's likely something that many players can relate to. Hsieh doesn't have the power to match most of her opponents, but she is a smart player that constantly finds the right angles on her shots.

Up next for the veteran is a match against world No. 4 Petra Kvitova. Kvitova has been remarkable to start the 2019 season, so Hsieh will need to play well in order to keep this run going.
