Three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka is back in the Top 50 following his appearance in the final of Rotterdam, even though he fell to Gael Monfils.

Wawrinka moved up 27 spots to No. 41, the highest he has been since undergoing double knee surgery in 2017.

Wawrinka, who has been as high as third in the world, went 17-17 in 2018 but had the best week of his comeback so far at Rotterdam, with wins against Milos Raonic, Denis Shapovalov and Kei Nishikori. He's looking to keep climbing back up the rankings.

“I need to keep doing what I've been doing. I need to play events to gain confidence,” Wawrinka told press following the final. “Keeping going is the only way to get back my ranking.”

The 33-year-old says that will require more tennis like he played at this event.

"It’s great to have been back in the final, but also the way I played and the way I arrived to the final," he said. "I played a good match and good level today, but it’s great to see the level is there across a full week."
