Bianca Andreescu is setting her sights on clay following her breakthrough on hardcourts this season.

The 18-year-old Canadian retired down a set and 2-0 to Anett Kontaveit at Miami with a shoulder injury, having just won the title at Indian Wells. She has wins against four Top 10 players and a 31-4 record across WTA, ITF, Fed Cup and qualifying events this season, leading the tour in wins.

Also likely to withdraw from next week's event at Charleston, Andreescu plans to return at Fed Cup and then play the European clay events. She does not expect the surface switch to be a problem.

"I think my game really suits clay. I love sliding on the court," she said. "I mean, I slide on every court, but it's easier on clay. It's easier on the body, too—I'm looking forward to it."

Andreescu began the season ranked No. 178 and is now No. 24 in the rankings.
