In her much-anticipated clay-court debut, top-seeded Naomi Osaka topped Hsieh Su-wei, 6-4, 6-3, to move into the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix on Thursday. It’s Osaka’s first trip to a tournament quarterfinal since winning her second consecutive Grand Slam in January.

Thus far, Osaka’s season has been filled with off-court drama. Sixteen days after her Australian Open victory, she surprisingly split with her coach Sascha Bajin. In March, coach Christophe Jean filed a $2 million suit against her, claiming the Japanese superstar's father had entered an agreement in 2012 to pay him 20% of future earnings in exchange for free coaching.

Earlier this month, the world No. 1 left sports apparel Adidas to sign a lucrative deal with rival giant Nike.

"I'm proud to become a member of the Nike family and excited about getting involved in all of the opportunities Nike has to offer," Osaka said in the statement.
