With a 6-3, 6-2, over Henri Laaksonen in Houston, Christian Garin is into his second career ATP semifinal.

After saving five match points against Jeremy Chardy in the round of 16, the 22-year-old Chilean had a much more straightforward time with the Swiss qualifier on Friday.

The world No. 73 is seeking his first ATP title after reaching the Sao Paulo final last month. In the semifinals on Saturday, he will play two-time finalist Sam Querrey, who squeezed past Janko Tipsarevic in a tight two-setter, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (4).
