Sloane Stephens will advance to her first ever Madrid Open semifinal after a convincing 6-4, 6-3 victory over Petra Martic.

Martic had won ten of her last eleven matches on clay, but there was nothing she could do against Stephens today, who dominated the match from start to finish. Stephens suffocated Martic with her exceptional movement and powerful forehand, forcing far too many unforced errors from the Croatian.

Stephens will face off against either Kiki Bertens or Petra Kvitova in the semifinal.
