Roger Federer says he's "fresh, rested and ready" for the grass-court season.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion will play the ATP event at Halle this week, where he is the top seed.

Speaking to press before the event, Federer said he had taken two days off since playing his semifinal at the French Open, then begun training for grass.

"Grass suits me," he said. "I like the intuitive, aggressive game. On the other hand, it's always on a knife edge. Matches are decided by a few balls. You always have to be alert, concentrating."

Federer opens against John Millman, who sprang one of the surprises of the 2018 season by defeating the Swiss at the US Open.

"John is a very tough opponent, doesn't give you anything," said Federer. "Gives a 100 percent on court. It will be a real test, but that might be just what I need."

Federer is a nine-time champion at Halle.
