After taking opening-round losses at her home event in 2014 and 2015, Eugenie Bouchard’s third-round run last year was much-needed tonic. This year, which marks the 125th anniversary of the women’s tournament up north, the young Canadian will try to go further without the burden of heavy expectations. She’ll do so in front of a who’s who of Canadian celebs—hockey great Sidney Crosby and singers Drake and Shania Twain have all attended the Rogers Cup, along with mogul Richard Branson and pop star Niall Horan. “For our international fans,” adds media manager Nicole Watts, “the Canadian dollar is a real bargain right now as well!”
