Sneak Peek: adidas' 2011 Aussie Open Women's Outfits

No matter how they fare in their matches, former Aussie Open finalists Justine Henin and Ana Ivanovic will score style points next month in Melbourne with their colorful clothing combinations.

The Australian Open begins on January 17, but adidas endorsers Henin, Ivanovic and Flavia Pennetta are already equipped for the big event. Adidas has provided TENNIS.com with a sneak peek of the clothes and shoes its stars will wear Down Under, before they hit retail store shelves.

Yesterday, we previewed the apparel Andy Murray, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Fernando Verdasco will wear. More information on price points and retail release dates will be available on adidas.com next month.

Justine Henin

Last year, Henin, who made her return to Melbourne Park in a blue outfit that blended with Rod Laver Arena's blue court—“a magical court,” she said—reached her third Australian Open final in her last four appearances. This time around, she’s dipped deeper into the color palette with her new SS11 Barricade outfit.

The 2004 Oz champion begins her 2011 campaign with a two-piece ensemble consisting of a polo shirt and skort. The pure white polo pops with dashes of color, including a pink collar and button placard, and adidas’ trademark three stripes in green on the sleeve. The bottom of the cap sleeve is banded by green and retains Henin’s personal preference for a shorter sleeve length. The green skort is made with an inner tight for comfort and stability.

Henin’s outfit comes in two color combinations of ‘fresh pink,’ ‘intense green’ and white.

Ana Ivanovic

Ivanovic has been a fan favorite Down Under since she knocked off Caroline Wozniacki, Venus Williams and Daniela Hantuchova in succession to reach the 2008 final. The three-time major finalist will make a striking statement in 2011 with the adizero clothing lne.

The former world No. 1 will wear a skirt and two-piece zipped top, in royal purple with green shoulder straps and green pearl-dot print. The color scheme creates a more powerful, aggressive silhouette than the canary yellow outfit Ivanovic sported at the 2010 Australian Open. The double-layered skirt is slightly shorter in length than past skirts, with a low waist cut and elastic waistband, offering freedom of movement.

Specifically placed mesh zones on the garments enhance ventilation, allowing optimum body temperature. The adizero top features a bra top insert for fit, feel and support. The outfit also comes in fresh pink and orange.

Flavia Pennetta

Continuing adidas’ green-and-purple color theme, Pennetta will wear a white tank top with green and purple stripes for day matches. Purple piping highlights the neck and shoulder line, and the pure white skirt is detailed with an intense green finish.

The adipure line also comes in a royal purple tank top (shown) and matching purple skirt for night play. A pure white finish rims the bottom of the purple skirt.
