HOW IT TESTED
The reaction to the Drive Z 110 boiled down to how playtesters felt about its Smart Grip. It resembles a slimmed-down hourglass and is designed to fi t the shape of the hand. It’s supposed to provide added comfort and racquet control while requiring less effort to produce powerful shots. Does it work? Simply put, you’ll have to try it for yourself. Some of our playtest-ers liked it; others weren’t enthusiastic. For those who employ lots of different grips, it can pose a challenge. The testers who approved of Smart Grip appreciated the racquet’s other attributes. The head-heavy balance and stiff frame offer good stability and pop on ground strokes. The balance, along with an extra half-inch in length, makes the racquet tricky to handle at net, but once you get the frame in position, you can punish volleys. For those who want more power and hitting area, the Drive Z is available with a 118-square-inch head.
BOTTOM LINE
If you like the ergonomic grip and you’re a club doubles player who wants some extra pop, give the Drive Z 110 a spin.
