If you're ready to step up to an advanced player's racquet but aren't prepared to take on the 11?- to 12-ounce heft that usually comes with it, the Babolat Pure Control + Zylon 360? might be your Goldilocks -- just right. Weighing 11.1 ounces with a head-light balance, this frame makes swinging a snap. Testers said it had a tad more oomph than a typical control-oriented racquet. That's because of the Zylon and the Woofer system. Zylon is a proprietary material said to be 50 percent stronger than graphite that's wrapped around the head's carbon tube for extra stiffness (and more power). The Woofer system, a grommet technology that allows the strings to move like rope on a pulley, also adds power and absorbs vibration. But testers noted that the racquet twisted quite a bit when they missed the small sweet spot.

BOTTOM LINE
Juniors who want an advanced, very maneuverable frame will love this.
