How It Tested: Advanced-player racquets from Fischer are typically extremely fl exible with little power. The Progressor NT isn’t stiff, but it’s firmer than the company’s customary models. It’s also more powerful, thanks to a half inch of extra length. Luckily, those tweaks haven’t diminished the feel that distinguishes Fischer frames. The Progressor NT was a big hit at the net, where the soft response, manageable weight, and head-light balance were all appreciated. “I felt I could put more or less into the volley and the racquet responded appropriately,” said a 3.5 baseliner. It’s easy to create spin on serves and ground strokes. And while there’s control to spare, a few players wished it had a little more pop. The sweet spot isn’t small, but the racquet doesn’t give you much help if you miss it. And what’s with the NT? It stands for “No Tolerance,” which is Fischer’s guarantee that each racquet produced will be identical in weight (often frames can vary by up to half an ounce), a nice benefit if you carry multiple sticks in your bag.
