How It Tested: If you believe that might makes right, you’re going to like the [K] Five 108. It’s got big power and it doesn’t take a huge swing to get the ball moving. Wilson says its [K]onnector technology—wings on the racquet face at 10 and 2 o’clock—creates a pocketing effect and keeps the ball on the strings longer for improved comfort and an enhanced sweet spot (which is huge). It seems to do the trick, as several playtesters were pleasantly surprised at the arm-friendly, soft feel, even on hard swings. The rather head-heavy balance is reminiscent of Wilson’s Hammer racquets, and while that’s good for baseline slugging, some playtesters found it made for sluggish handling at net. One 4.5 tester found it was solid during simple volley drills. “However, as soon as I was stretched, the racquet was too tough to move,” he said. The same comments were made on overheads as the racquet can be a challenge to maneuver above the shoulder. But those who could control it enjoyed nailing their smashes.

Bottom Line: It’s not the easiest to handle, but it’s got plenty of power and a comfortable feel.
