If there's one thing Lleyton Hewitt needs, it's a racquet designed for baseline bashing. His newest weapon of choice, the Yonex MP Tour-1 midsize, is ideal for aggressive ground strokers. "This racquet has unbelievable control," a 4.5 player said. But the power level drops significantly when you miss the small sweet spot. The mid-plus is more forgiving and a little more powerful, though testers were divided on the control issue: 60 percent said there were just enough; the rest said the ball got away from them. Extra weight is added to the head at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions for stability. And MP? It stands for Muscle Power technology -- those humps between the grommets that help reduce vibration. But the humps also raise the strings above the edges of the head along the sides, exposing the strings to potential damage if you scrape the racquet on the court.

BOTTOM LINE
Perfect for the take-charge baseliner.
