FIRST TAKE:
One of K-Swiss’ 7.0 System Series of high-performance shoes, this sneaker is built to last.

HOW IT TESTED:
The Defier RS wears like iron, with a full-grain leather upper, toe-drag protection for players with open-stance forehands, and a rubber outsole that’s extra tough where you need it to be, in the toe and heel. But durability is a long-term benefit, the kind you appreciate six months down the road. What about the here and now? Playtesters said that the Defier RS was comfortable right out of the box, with no break-in period, and the weight was considered just right—not too heavy that it’s a drag on your feet, not too light that it sacrifices cushioning or stability. Nice touch: the Heel-Grip lining, a grippy though not uncomfortable material that keeps your heel from slipping.

BOTTOM LINE:
It’s the total package, with outstanding durability, stability, and comfort.
