SALES PITCH:
Rafael Nadal's shoe of choice has cushioning and support for aggressive movers who depend on their footwork.

OUR TAKE:
It’s easy to see why Rafa trusts his feet to the Air Max Breathe Cage II. It has all the support a serious player needs. That said, the shoe isn’t for everybody. Zoom Air technology in the forefoot keeps you low to the ground for responsiveness, but it lacks the cushioning the casual player typically demands. The Drag-On plastic cage that surrounds the upper enhances support, yet it gives the shoe a stiff feel. Women in particular found the shoe a little uncomfortable. Our only qualm was with the tongueless design, which can make it tricky to put on. But once your foot is in place, you’ll feel very secure.
