FIRST TAKE:
Yonex is best known for its racquets, but with 2003’s SHT-303, and now this flashy introduction, the company is building a reputation for producing lightweight (if awkwardly named) shoes.

HOW IT TESTED:
Like the SHT-303, this model is very light and has a roomy interior. What’s new? That would be the Power Cushion Insole MC (Motion Control). It functions like an over-the-counter orthotic, with built-up sides that cradle your foot to keep it from slopping around, and thermoplastic urethane under the arch for extra support. The SHT-304’s stability was fine for most testers, though not for heavier players who usually need a beefier, less flexible shoe with more cushioning. Is the bright silver blinding you? You can put the sunglasses down: The shoe also comes in traditional white.

BOTTOM LINE:
Light and fairly comfortable shoe for players who don’t need maximum stability and cushioning.
