#AcesForAid: Hubert Hurkacz to donate 100 Euros for every ace to Poland after recent flooding

Hubert Hurkacz is raising awareness for Poland following recent flooding in the southwest part of the country. As a state of emergency is declared, Poland’s highest-ranked male player is using the remainder of his season to support recovery efforts.

“Starting today and until the end of the season, I will be donating €100 for every ace I hit to support those affected by the devastating floods in Poland,” Hurkacz wrote on social media last week.

“For me, sport is not just a competition, but also a platform to drive impact. #acesforaid.”

So far, Hurkacz has already hit 17 aces for the cause–and that was all in one match. His first-round match in Tokyo against American Marcos Giron was a three-set thriller that went in favor of the Pole.

World No.1 Iga Swiatek is also doing her part to support Poland. The Pole is known for supporting causes she feels passionate about, having famously pins in favor of and participated in exhibitions for Ukraine.

In an Instagram story, she wrote: “My thoughts are with all people affected by the flood, and the services and organizations that are providing help. You are not alone.”

She provided a link to the Polish Red Cross Collection, a movement that has been providing aid since its founding in 1910.

Hurkacz awaits the winner of Jack Draper and Mattia Bellucci to continue serving his way through Tokyo. As he #acesforaid for as long as his season permits, Swiatek will see her year continue through at the WTA Finals in November.
