Alejandro Davidovich Fokina says that his recent wedding to longtime girlfriend Paloma Amatiste was "the perfect day" ... even if he can't take much credit for it!

The world No. 28, competing this week in Eastbourne, told the UK's *Express Sport* that Amatiste "did everything" for the June 14 nuptials, which took place at the Finca Cortesin in Casares, Spain.

"I just went there. I just organized the party," he said, revealing that he was a bundle of nerves as his future bride was 30 minutes late for the scheduled ceremony.

"I think it was the day that I had more nerves than for example, on court. In the end. it was a sunny day, it was a perfect day, and the sea had no waves. That was amazing.”

After the couple said their delayed 'I do," they and their guests danced the night away until well past 3 a.m., the 26-year-old said. After Davidovich Fokina popped the question last year at Rome's iconic Trevi Fountain, the jam-packed reception featured Italian and Spanish food in a nod to the couple's respective heitages, a live band, saxophonist, fireworks and flamenco dancers along with a late-night dinner.

But the most important attendee, Davidovich Fokina said, was his good friend and fellow ATP pro Arthur Fils, who served as the couple's witness.

Fils and Davidovich Fokina became friendly as teammates at the 2023 Laver Cup, and with the Frenchman currenlty recovering from a back injury, he was happy to accomodate the big day in his schedule.

"I have very good relationship with him and he was there until three days before the wedding, and we spent a lot of time together and everything then," he said. "We create a very good friendship.

“You don't see that kind of relationship on tour. I mean, I have a very good friendship with Carlos [Alcaraz], with [Roberto] Bautista Agut, with a lot of players, but that kind of relationship that I have with Arthur, we call not every day, but we keep in touch every time.

“‘What are you doing?’ Now he’s injured with his back, ‘How is your back’ and everything like that. You don't see it usually, because at the end it's an ego sport that everyone is looking for himself and I mean, to have that kind of a friend, it's like it's for me it's a very good, very good thing.”

After missing the HSBC Championships at Queen's Club with illness, which Davidovich Fokina confessed were allergies compounded by the stress of pulling things off without a hitch, he's through to the quarterfinals as the No. 6 seed in Eastbourne and will face No. 3 seed Jakub Mensik on Thursday..
