Jennifer Brady joined the growing list of players that will not be playing Down Under in 2022 due to an on-going left foot injury. Australian Open officials confirmed on Saturday that the 2021 finalist will not compete at the major event.

"Wishing you a speedy recovery Jen," the tournament tweeted.

It seems like yesterday that the American was wreaking havoc at the Grand Slam in Melbourne—taking out top names such as, Donna Vekic, Jessica Pegula and Karolina Muchova to secure a spot in her first major final. In a re-match of their 2020 US Open semifinal, she would come up just short again against Naomi Osaka—falling 6-4, 6-3.

Since then she's struggled with painful foot issues that would see her withdraw from Rome and retire against Coco Gauff at Roland Garros. The last competitive match of her 2021 season also ended in retirement back in August against Jelena Ostapenko at the Western & Southern Open. She claimed the first set over the Latvian before the foot pain was too much to bear.

The world No. 25's withdrawal follows Roger Federer's announcement—who is still recovering from knee surgery, Bianca Andreescu, and most recently Karolina Pliskova who is suffering from a right-hand injury she sustained during practice.
