Every week, American players from the ATP and WTA tours step up to the plate around the world. Here are the top American movers and shakers that shone brightest this week:

1. Frances Tiafoe

Finalist, Erste Bank Open

He didn't up with a title, but Frances Tiafoe made his mark in Vienna. The American battled through three seeded players - No. 1 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, No. 8 seed Diego Schwartzman, and No. 7 seed Jannik Sinner - to reach the final against Alexander Zverev.

Tiafoe was unable to take down his friend, but this was the first time in his career that the American consecutively defeated three Top 20 opponents.

2. J.J. Wolf

Champion, Las Vegas Challenger

J.J. Wolf came up big in Las Vegas. The American won the Challenger title—his fifth career Challenger trophy and first of the year, taking down Stefan Kozlov in the final. Wolf dropped only one set during his time in Vegas.

3. Taylor Fritz

Finalist, St. Petersburg Open

For his first final of the 2021 season, Taylor Fritz faced Marin Cilic. It was a hard-fought match, battling back from a set down to take the final into a third set. However, the fifth seed could not overcome Croatian. Still, Fritz only dropped one set before the final affair, and reaching an ATP final is always welcome.

4. Brandon Nakashima

Champion, Brest Challenger

Over the weekend, Brandon Nakashima won his third career Challenger title. The American did not drop a set during the Brest Open, taking down Joao Sousa, 6-3, 6-3, in the final. This season, Nakashima reached the finals in Los Cabos and Atlanta, cementing his place in the NextGen ATP Finals in Milan.
