It was a tough loss for Pegula. After reaching the quarterfinals in Dubai without dropping a set, the American captured the first set against No. 10 seed Elise Mertens, and even held a pair of match points, but could not claim victory. Although the loss was a tough pill to swallow, she is still playing the best tennis of her career.
