Andy Murray took to social media to announce that Maggie May, affectionately known as Maggie Mayhem, crossed the rainbow bridge on Friday.

“She was a huge part of our family and our first pet so this really hurts,” wrote the former world No. 1.

Alongside fellow border terrier Rusty, Maggie May was one half of the cutest doubles team in tennis, and at one point gave dad Andy a run for his money on Twitter with a popular account @maggiemay_hem.

The now-deleted handle boasted close to 30,000 followers at its peak, and featured a winning combination of adorable pictures and snappy banter.

“Happy birthday @andy_murray thanks for cleaning up my vomit just now #lifeskills #yourewelcome,” the little scamper scrawled in 2015.

In between working his way back from a nagging hip injury, Murray proved a loving dog dad over the years—even showing off his “dog voice” to the delight of comics Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan.

“Give your pets a big cuddle tonight cause it stings when you can’t anymore,” Murray advised as he bid farewell to one unforgettable pup.
