FLASHBACK: Kerber announced her pregnancy days before the 2022 US Open.

Angelique Kerber checked in with fans on social media ahead of Valentine’s Day to share a lovely image from an ethereal pregnancy photoshoot on Instagram.

“Patiently waiting,” captioned the former world No. 1 and expectant mother.

Kerber was last on tour for the 2022 Wimbledon Championships, where the former champion bowed out in the third round.

She announced her pregnancy to the world days before the US Open six months ago, but teased a return to action following the birth of her first child.

“New York has often been a turning point in my career and it feels like this year will be no different in some way!” she wrote at the time. “From restarting my career in 2011 to winning the title in 2016 and becoming #1 in the world…

“The @usopen has a special place in my heart and I wish I could have said goodbye to all of you on court before not being around on tour for a while.”

Kerber leads the latest WTA baby boom that also features Naomi Osaka, who revealed her own pregnancy just before the Australian Open and made a rare public appearance to attend Super Bowl LVII over the weekend.
