Being back at the BNP Paribas Open has Bianca Andreescu feeling nostalgic.

"Back where it all started," she captioned an Instagram carousel post, which included a slow-motion sizzle reel of her reaction after winning championship point in 2019 over Angelique Kerber, She shared a similar sentiment on Twitter.

Andreescu is competing in Indian Wells for just the second time since winning the title in 2019, the first wildcard in tournament history to accomplish the feat. The tournament was canceled in 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and in her untraditional title defense a year later at the rescheduled October edition, Andreescu was beaten by Anett Kontaveit in the third round.

Last year, Andreescu missed the event, too; she didn't start her 2022 season until April after an extended sabbatical to prioritize her mental health.

Having just snuck into the Top 32 seeds at the second WTA 1000 event of the season at No. 32, Andreescu will no doubt be hoping that the good memories sparks some of her best tennis.

The Canadian reached the semifinals at the WTA 250 event in Hua Hin last month—the first time this year so far that she's won back-to-back matches at an event—where she was forced to retire against Lesia Tsurenko with a right shoulder injury. She lost her first match in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai, to Yulia Putintseva and Elena Rybakina, respectively.
