New York always seems to bring out the best in former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki, as it’s the site of her two career Grand Slam final appearances.

She was never morein need of a bite of the Big Apple than she was in 2016. By time the US Open rolled around, her season could’ve been written off as a lost cause.

Struggling with injury and all-around form for the bulk of the year, Wozniacki entered the Open well outside of the Top 50 at No. 74. She caught fire in her second home, and defeated Top 10 players Svetlana Kuznetsova and Madison Keys on her way to the semifinals.

Then it was off to Asia, where her hot streak continued, as she won titles in Tokyo and Hong Kong.

By the time the end of the season rolled around, Wozniacki was back in the Top 20. With hardly any points to defend in the first half of the year, a Top 10 ranking could be well within reach, bringing the turnaround full circle.
