Serena Williams may have lost her grip on the No. 1 spot this year, but she proved to be as dominant as ever. The 35-year-old played just eight tournaments, reaching the semifinals or better at six of them. She finished as finalist at the Australian Open and Roland Garros, before winning major No. 22 at Wimbledon.
