Denis Kudla is entering the back nine of his career, but let’s not forget that he was just a few points away from reaching the quarterfinals at SW19 in 2015. I asked Kudla how much the absurdly brief three-week grass season has cost him in prize money, seeing as clay-court specialists can practically compete on their favorite surface all year. He replied, “A lot."

Pam Shriver is definitely onto something, not that she’s the first to address the lack of sponsorship opportunity on tennis player’s attire. But seriously, in a sport that is struggling to provide for players ranked outside of the Top 150-200—who are all exceptionally gifted athletes more than deserving of an increase in pay—why not take the Nascar approach? Restricting companies from freely sponsoring tennis players just doesn’t make sense. It’s a win-win for just about everyone except Wimbledon and their all-white tradition.
