Best Tweets of the Week: Karatsev's calves
Published May 01, 2021
Let’s start things off with Aslan Karatsev’s gigantic calves. Though the Russian lost the championship match to Matteo Berrettini, 7-6 in the third, in Belgrade, this picture will live forever. Karatsev’s legs lost the match, but they won the war.
Here is some wholesome content. Ugo Humbert’s mom is back in the stands, which means the talented Frenchman is winning again. Humbert and his mom have a joyous dynamic and she seems to bring out his best tennis. She has been known to give her son’s opponents standing ovations after incredible points. She is a delight, and now we know where Humbert got his hair from.
This is pretty cringe-worthy, but kudos to the Estoril Open DJ for dropping “Drip”, by Denis Shapovalov ft. Corentin Moutet, ahead of the Canadian and the Frenchman's second-round encounter. I’m not sure what’s better (or worse) right now, Shapovalov’s bars or his tennis. The Frenchman would defeat the slumping Canadian, 6-4 in the third.
Baby Jannik Sinner is adorable. What’s crazy is that Head racquet is not that old!
Day one of the Estoril Open was plagued by inclement weather, but it gave us one of the coolest tennis videos ever: Marin Cilic and Nuno Borges playing in what appears to be a hailstorm.
