NEW YORK—“When the world writes her down in history, we’ll begin where she stared: at love…”

So begins a moving tribute to Serena Williams narrated by the one and only Beyoncé.

The famed recording artist partnered with Gatorade in an ad that honors the 23-time Grand Slam champion ahead of what will likely be her final major appearance at the 2022 US Open.

“A love that started a movement, a movement to always love exactly who you are,” says Beyoncé, who once teamed up with Serena for an unforgettable performance in her “Sorry” music video. “To be so in love with your identity that your very essence cannot be contained, to love the sound of your own voice, and the way you move.

“To feel like a queen unapologetically, with a crown indefinitely.”

Gatorade’s tribute to Serena extends past an advertisement: the energy drink brand plans to rebrand its famed “G” logo during the US Open so that it is an “S” for Serena, who will also sport a signature towel and bottle with the logo.

Williams is scheduled to play her first-round match under the Arthur Ashe Stadium lights on Monday evening against Danka Kovinic.
