While many players have been taking to warm locations like the Caribbean and the Maldives for a few days off, Marie Bouzkova had other plans.

She recently did an interview with the WTA detailing her off-season and fans have learned she's a huge fan of Christmas, picked up ballroom dancing and photography, and just went on her first solo vacation.

After months of organizing, the 22-year-old Czech traveled to Alaska for six days after wrapping up her season in Ostrava.

She planned the trip herself and filled it with hikes, a visit to an ice museum, glacier walks, sight-seeing by boat and dog sledding. The youngster even witnessed the Northern Lights.

Most interestingly of all, Bouzova didn't post about her unique adventure on social media, opting to save the memories and photos for herself.

Despite the abbreviated season, Bouskova reached her first WTA final (in Monterrey), won the the year-end  Karen Krantzcke Sportsmanship Award and ended the season at No. 52. She'll spend Christmas at her base in Bradenton, Fla., where she recently competed in a prize money UTR event.
