Canadians (and Schwartzman) train in The Bahamas
Published Aug 05, 2020
With the restart of the ATP tour on the horizon, a group of mostly Canadians have been training in The Bahamas.
Milos Raonic, Diego Schwartzman, Peter Polansky, Denis Shapovalov and his girlfriend Mirjam Bjorklund have been putting in the work with the Caribbean as their backdrop.
The Bahamas is a hot spot for pre-season and mid-season training. In 2017, former No. 1 Lleyton Hewitt opened a tennis academy on the island called the Albany Sports Academy, and players have trained there before including Nick Kyrgios.
Kyrgios will be absent from the New York hard-court swing this summer, but Schwartzman, Raonic and Shapovalov are all entered into the Western & Southern Open and US Open. With a ranking of No. 192, Polansky is an alternate.
