A win away from his first Masters 1000 title at the Miami Open, Carlos Alcaraz is in a place where it appears he can do no wrong—both on the court and between the lines with a heartening act of sportsmanship.

The Spanish teenager had successfully executed one of his famed drop shots against defending champion Hubert Hurkacz, who narrowly got to the ball when umpire Fergus Murphy called a double bounce, or “not up.”

As Hurkacz pled his case to Murphy, Alcaraz volunteered to replay the point to the delight of the Stadium court crowd and fans watching online. The move was made all the kinder given the fact that Alcaraz had all but won the point regardless of the Pole’s return and, as noted by Guardian journalist Tumaini Carayol, “he made the offer without anyone asking.”

Alcaraz would ultimately dethrone Hurkacz in a pair of tiebreakers, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (2) and book a championship clash against Casper Ruud on Sunday.

“I love playing here in Miami,” he said after the match. “Amazing crowd, amazing atmosphere, amazing everything. So, it's great to play a final.”
