Carlos Alcaraz has won four Grand Slam titles and 14 trophies on the ATP Tour—and he keeps them all at his parents’ place in Murcia, Spain, where he still sleeps on a twin-sized bed.

But just because he’s a simple guy doesn’t mean he can’t treat himself, as Alcaraz revealed on a Spanish-only episode of Tennis Channel’s VIP Tennis Lounge with Garbiñe Muguruza.

The former world No. 1s chatted about the glitz and glamour of tour life, with Alcaraz telling Muguruza exactly how he plans to spend his next big tennis paycheck.

“Maybe not after every big win, but for example at the Grand Slams, if I reach the semifinals I like to buy myself a new pair of sneakers,” said Alcaraz.

"Sneakers? You're such a responsible guy. This is VIP Tennis Lounge, we want to hear about something expensive!" Muguruza said.

That might not seem like the biggest splurge when you consider he’s racked up $40 million in career prize money and counting, but as the 22-year-old reminds us: “There are some types of sneakers that can get very…!”

If he keeps winning more big titles, he might soon need a new place to store all of it. As he took viewers around his bedroom on his Netflix docuseries, he revealed that his ever-growing sneaker collection occupies the same bookshelves as his tennis trophies—and he’s already running out of room.

Luckily for Alcaraz, he’s a guy who likes to have options:

“If I feel like I had a good season, at the end of the year I’ll buy myself a nice watch.”
