While there wasn't too much drama to be found in in the final of the Nordea Open on Sunday, the post-match banter between the pair, who are good friends off the court, was Hall of Fame-worthy.

After winning his second title of the season, adding to the trophy he won in Monte Carlo in April, Rublev was at his self-deprecating best to describe his performance.

"Today, I hit all the possible lines, all the possible frames, and everything went inside [the lines]," he said. "In the second set, sometimes I was thinking that I was closing my eyes and I was shooting, and still, the ball was going in."

As it turned out, Ruud agreed. The Norwegian, denied in his quest to win a second career title in Bastad, took a shot in his runner-up speech.

"You're a very tough competitor, but also a very nice guy, very funny, and always respectful to your opponents," Ruud began, before delivering the kicker with a big smile, "even though you hit all the f*ing lines today!"

As Rublev cracked his own grin and the crowd laughed along, Ruud added: "It was not so respectful to me, but it's okay!"

After the laughter from all parties died down, Ruud concluded his speech with some heartfelt praise for Rublev.

"It's always a good battle against you. I remember when I was young, you were a year older, you were always doing a bit better than me, so I always looked up to you," he said. "It's always nice to share the court with you."

Rublev, in kind, offered his own words of admiration to Ruud in his champion's speech.

"You did already three Grand Slam finals, so hopefully, the first Grand Slam title is coming soon," he said. "It's a really great achievement. I still didn't even do a semifinal yet. I lost only in quarters!

"You're a really nice guy and I respect you a lot. You're very humble, and there are, not only players, not many people in the world who are nice like you. It's a pleasure to share the court."
