Casper Ruud was rooting for the home team on Thursday when he stopped by Rogers Centre stadium to throw out the first pitch for a Toronto Blue Jays game.

The former world No. 2 is up north to compete at the National Bank Open, where he is looking to better his semifinal finish from last summer, but traded his tennis racquet for a baseball jersey as he helped kick off the deciding game of the Blue Jays’ series against the Baltimore Orioles.

“Ruud is ready,” captioned the team on social media along with video of the three-time Grand Slam finalist meeting Blue Jays mascot Ace and pitcher Erik Swanson.

Ruud stuck around to watch the Orioles ultimate win with a 6-1 “breadstick,” but the Norwegian can add the game to what has already been a season of off-court adventures that has included multiple triples to see The Weeknd in concert and his fashionable turn in front of photographer David Yarrow.

On the court, Ruud has largely rallied from a sluggish start to 2023, rebounding to reach a second straight Roland Garros final and currently find himself ranked eighth in the ATP Race to Turin, where he also finished runner-up in 2022.

Can Casper score a home run at the US Open or will he end up striking out on hard courts?
