American Caty McNally is eyeing a "new chapter" for her tennis career after recently undergoing elbow surgery.

Sidelined for six months after Wimbledon last year before a brief appearance on tour this February—in which she teamed with Asia Muhammad in Cluj-Napoca, Romania to win her eighth career WTA doubles title—the 22-year-old revealed on social media Friday that she recently went under the knife at Dr. Jeffrey Dugas' famed Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, Ala.

In her post, McNally alluded to her injuries troubles beginning shortly after she reached her career-high singles ranking of No. 54 last May.

"Yesterday started a new chapter in my journey," McNally wrote on Instagram. "After 10 months of elbow pain and multiple conservative routes, we made the decision that surgery was the best option moving forward.

"I’m extremely grateful for Dr. Dugas and his team who took incredible care of me. Surgery was a success and now it is time to crush the rehab to get back to playing the sport I love."

McNally's fellow Americans Madison Keys, Jennifer Brady and former doubles partner Coco Gauff were among those to wish her well in the comments.

"Can't wait to see you back healthy," Keys wrote, while Gauff added: "Wishing you a speedy recovery."

McNally missed Roland Garros and the US Open last year with injury, as well as the Australian Open this January. In addition to playing singles and doubles in Cluj, she also played at the WTA 250 in Linz, and the WTA 125 in Puerto Vallarta two weeks ago.
