Business acumen has been important to Chris Eubanks since his days as a business administration major on the Georgia Tech University men's tennis team, and now, the American is using that status as a touring tennis pro to impart that knowledge on others.

The 27-year-old recently inked a sponsorship deal with FICO, the software analytics firm responsible for the FICO score—used by 90% of U.S. banks and loan lenders to track a person's credit and determine their eligibility for personal loans, mortgages, auto loans, credit cards, and more—in the hopes of building Americans' financial literacy.

“I’m excited to partner with FICO to not only raise awareness about the need for financial education but also learn more about it myself,” Eubanks said in a statement.

“I was lucky that I learned the financial basics from a pretty young age from a family member and mentor. It’s something that is extremely important to me and to be able to partner with a company like FICO is my way of paying it forward.”

As a part of the launch of the partnership, Eubanks visited with students at Miami Beach Nautilus Middle School on March 19 to share credit and financial education basics in hopes of inspiring a lifelong enthusiasm for financial literacy—a living example of how he's an "inspiration to many," according to Nikhil Behl, chief marketing officer at FICO.

“Chris is a performance-oriented athlete and an inspiration to many," Behl said. "He is someone who deeply understands the importance of financial literacy and has seen the benefits firsthand on his own financial journey.

“We hope Chris inspires more people to understand the importance of money and credit education and help them on their financial journey.”

Eubanks will also be a keynote speaker at FICO World next month, the company's annual conference, and debut a new patch on his match clothes this week during the Miami Open, where he reached the quarterfinals last year as a qualifier. The No. 31 seed will face either Dan Evans or Lorenzo Sonego in the second round.
