Amid a rash of nightmare travel stories, Christopher Eubanks endured a Southwest-style odyssey of his own in an attempt to play Down Under.

The American, who made his Tennis Channel Live Desk debut last year, took fans through an excruciating journey to Auckland from Pune, where he had withdrawn before playing due to breathing issues.

“While trying to book it on Priceline, it took me hours to get it done,” Eubanks tweeted. “I selected the flights, got the seats, and when it came time to pay, I got the ‘Your Flight is no longer available. Try to rebook.’ This happened repeatedly for hours…”

On the first stop in Bengaluru, Eubanks discovered a whopping eight-hour delay stood between him and his next flight to Sydney. Once on the plane, things only got worse.

“There must’ve been at least 5 babies on this flight that were not feeling it as well because those little devils were SCREAMINGGGGG,” he wrote. “I wanted to join in with them. I was not OK.”

Eubanks eventually landed in Auckland, only to discover two bags were missing—including one packed with his tennis clothes.

“We file a claim with Baggage Services and ask the rep when we might be able to expect an update on our bags…,” he continues. “He says, ‘You’ll be lucky to receive them in two weeks. There’s global backlog on missing bags.’”

How might these setbacks impact Eubanks’ effort to compete in a third Australian Open main draw? Stay tuned for updates and catch up with the full story on his official Twitter account.
