Juan Martin del Potro is known for many things like his 2009 US Open title, lovable personality, giant stature, passionate fan base and huge forehand. While at the Delray Beach Open—a tournament that has become a recent staple in his career—the 30-year-old shared how he developed his now infamous stroke.

"My coach from the time I was a kid was a specialist of hard courts. He teach me a different forehand than the rest of Argentinian players," Del Potro said. "That's why I am able to work better on hard courts."

He used that forehand to great effect at Delray Beach, taking down Yoshihito Nishioka in the first round, his first win in four months since injuring his knee cap at the end of 2018.

The Argentinian has made Delray Beach his home away from home, winning it in 2011 and using it as a comeback platform multiple years.
