Much is made of Lake Lyndon B. Johnson’s constant water level. It never fluctuates more than one foot, and as a result, the million-dollar homes of Horseshoe Bay Resort are built right up on the water’s edge.

Another constant on Lake LBJ is fun. As one of the Colorado River’s six pass-through lakes, the 21-mile playground has plenty of room for everyone to frolic, whether for relaxation or adventure. Horseshoe Bay’s multi-million-dollar marina and two soft-sand beaches offer easy, instant access to all watersports.

Rental options include pontoons, yachts, fishing charters, Sea-Doos, paddleboards, kayaks and jet skis. If you want to wakeboard or water ski, you can book a driver to take you out on a premium MasterCraft boat and manage the wake like a pro. In the evening, join the captain’s cruise aboard Horseshoe Bay’s own yacht and relax with a glass of wine and a beautiful sunset.

“The lake is super nice, very calm,” says Destination Tennis host Monica Puig. “There is lots of space to move. I didn’t know what to expect, and it turned out to be such a great experience.”

It’s getting even better with the addition of a floating pool right into the lake. It will be connected to the marina by a dock and surrounded by deck space—the only other one of this kind is in Lake Como, Italy.

“One of the things that impressed me most about Horseshoe Bay is that they are constantly looking for ways to make the resort more attractive to families and busy executives, and they think outside of the box,” Puig says.

The lake is stocked with largemouth bass and other popular species, and guests can choose to fish off the dock or charter a ride to deeper waters. Rent a pontoon and you can cruise out to a sandbar to see if a party is underway and take a dip.

The lake is also a constant presence on the Horseshoe Bay shores, stopping guests in their tracks with breathtaking views from hilltop golf tees and restaurant decks.

The resort’s yacht club restaurant has a most splendid vantage point with an elevated patio for fine dining, private rooms for family celebrations, and 25,000 square feet of lofty deck space. From there, you might spot your dream house and make Horseshoe Bay a permanent vacation.
