In 2011, Dinara Safina walked away from the pro game at the age of 25. The Russian reached three Grand Slam finals and peaked at No. 1 in 2009, becoming the first sibling duo to do so with her brother Marat.

"Unfortunately, for me, because of my injury I had to retire early at 25," Safina told *ESPNW*. "I could have played more, but I don't regret it. What was done is done. I gave it 100 percent every day."

Safina has since turned to coaching. Now 30 years old, she has started working at a new program at MatchPoint NYC in Brooklyn, helping both juniors and pros get better at the game that has given her so much.

"I moved to New York for [the coaching], but also because I love it here, I wanted to move here..." Safina said. "I don't know why. But I love the energy here so much. Everyone here is positive. People want new challenges, new experiences... I have rented the apartment for one year, but I hope to stay forever. I love being here."
